- Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) that depends on measuring the impedance of the body to an applying micro-currents and then measure the voltage drop. After that the Body water, Fat Free Mass and other body components can be obtained.
- InBody overcome the conventional BIA with the following four technologies:
1. Direct Segmental Measurement (DSM-BIA)
- It consider the human body as 5 cylinders (Right Arm , Left Arm, Trunk, Right Leg, Left Leg) which are different in width & length & measure the impedance of each part separately & accurately.

- Allow segmental analysis & the ability to repeatedly start measurement at a fixed point regardless where the electrodes are placed which increase the accuracy and reproducibility of the results.
4. No Use of Empirical Estimation
- InBody 770 uses only the impedance rather than relying on empirical estimations which are based on the averages of statistical data such as age or gender..etc.

Why do I have to use a body composition analyzer?

Is BMI enough to diagnose obesity?
The Body Mass Index is one of the well-known old methods to diagnose obesity. It is used to evaluate weight in relation to height. According to BMI, however, athletes or muscular individuals would always be obese due to their heavy muscle. Those sarcopenic (lack of muscle) with a great amount of fat would not be identified as being obese. Therefore, for the true diagnosis of obesity, you need to check percent body fat with the InBody.
What is the difference between InBody models, which one is the best for me?
The InBody series have a variety of functions and provided data. Not everyone needs to use the full function models. It just depends on your needs and usage.
Why I have to use the InBody Tissues before testing? Do socks and shoes really need to be removed?
- The InBody Tissues increase electrical conductivity where the hand and feet electrodes make contact with the skin. Without the InBody Tissues, it could be difficult for the electrical currents to penetrate through severe calluses or hard skin on the hands or bottom of the feet.
- Yes, it is important that the feet are bare and free from any socks, shoes, or stockings that may increase contact resistance of the electrical current penetrating at the contact points.
What can affect the accuracy of measurements?
Hydration status which is affected by Sauna, Hot Showers, Exercising, Eating or drinking…etc can affect the accuracy of body water and the whole measurements. But as long as the conditions are kept the same every time, it will give consistent results.
Also accessories such as bracelet, necklace and watch may interfere with electrical conductivity.
Are there any types of people who should not use InBody?
- People with implanted defibrillators or pacemakers should not use Although a very low electrical signal is applied through the body, it may affect these equipment’s functions.
- Women during their menstruation will not get accurate results due to subtle changes in their body water.
Is InBody safe for pregnant women?
- Yes, it is safe for pregnant women. However, due to the change in their water content, some of the results may not be accurate. Moreover, during the first three months of pregnancy, they should consult their physician prior the test.
